I wanted to drop you a note about my Comfort Ride Hitch Model 245 I purchased recently on July 31. I have since then traveled about 500 miles towing my 15,000lb fifth wheel. The journey crossed many bridges, rough road patches, all the normal bouncy roads and sources that would excite an action we 5ers call "chucking" where the entire combination is surging (accelerating) forward and then decelerating (bounce back without actually traveling backward!). The back and forth action would self dampen to smooth travel if another excitation was not encountered after about 150-200 feet of forward travel. Before the Comfort Ride Hitch was installed, if the cycling was crazy, I would apply either the foot brake or the trailer brake through the integrated brake controller to dampen and smooth out the ride. BUT with the Comfort Ride Hitch the entire event was virtually eliminated!! The entire combination of truck and fifth wheel quietly moved past the expansion joints, bridge deck to highway surface, whatever with a normal bump but with absolutely a small and very short cycle so short it isn't worth describing here. At first I seriously considered NOT buying the hitch because of its price alone, but now after having driven a short distance with it I can't imagine why I didn't buy this hitch last year when I began investigating it. I want to call out your Comfort Ride Hitch manager Trevor for his dedication to making a zero clearance hitch installation on my 15 year old bed rails!!! With the hitch installed tight and right the ride is quiet and comfortable. Amazingly there is no noise from the trailer riding in the jaws of the hitch or the hitch knocking on the bed rails. Great service and dedication to excellence was clearly demonstrated by the long time employees at Roadmaster Inc.
Rick bent over backwards helping me to get this hitch. He answered all my questions any time I called. Polite and very professional. The hitch also is awesome. Rides very good. Thank you to the folks at Comfort Ride Hitch! I was down at the Hershey RV Show and I saw the Comfort Ride Hitch. I wanted to put it in my new truck (not yet bought) So I purchased the Best Hitch product for my Fifth wheel I have seen. The Comfort Ride Hitch will give me easier connections, two way tilting on dips, and a very smooth ride over bumps with the cushioning system ! All of the state of the art features will give me a fun day to make my old clunker hitch an anchor! I can't wait to get my new truck and install it!
Great company to deal with. Now on second hitch. Had to replace old hitch after purchase of new Dodge and the new hitch is much better than the old one, even though I never had a problem with the first one, but it is so nice to have the ability to change the height of the hitch for any truck now. Towing is a breeze, love the locking system, as it is so easy to tell the hitch is locked, also love how easy it is to hook-up, just ease back into the hitch and click it's connected, insert the lock and ready to go. Great hitch, great company.
Best hitch ever! We went 7000 miles on our first trip with it, we were amazed at how good it rode. One day I even forgot my cup of coffee on the counter, 400 miles later the cup was still mostly full. Great hitch, even greater people.
I purchased a Freightliner Cascadia set up to pull a fifth wheel and the comfort ride hitch was already in place. We started out full-timing about 4 months ago and have been learning and adapting as we go. I have to say this hitch has been one of the most reliable and trouble free parts of this whole experience. One of the best parts is knowing without a doubt that your are locked in. Another is how well it works. Can't say enough about Rick Olson and the support he has given me as I have reached out with questions. His attitude and genuine concern for customers make me very happy to support him and his product.
We replaced our Reese Titan Hitch in our RAM 3500 SRW with the Comfort Ride 184. We also removed our Trailair Flex king pin assembly and went back to our standard Lippert king pin assembly. After our first extended trip, we absolutely love the improvement in the ride!! The chucking was greatly reduced. The Comfort Ride is also much, much easier to hitch and unhitch than my prior hitch. As long as you can see the locking "hole" on the passenger side of the hitch and that the detent pin is engaged, you know you're safely locked in. I should also add that Rick and his staff are also a joy to work with!
